If you’re looking to find which are the best marketing books in print today that can help you improve your marketing strategies or drive more traffic to your website? Here are three new marketing books that are proving useful for internet marketing businesses across the world:

Before You Quit Your Day Job, Check Out Moonlighting On The Internet by Yanik Silver et al.

This publication provides readers with some examples on the different ways to make money over the Internet. It offers a good understanding of inexpensive methods before turning to pricey “guru” products.

Meatball Sundae: Is Your Marketing Out Of Sync? By Seth Godin.

In this marketing book, Godin challenges the traditional model of the commodity business and argues it needs to transform itself to be compatible with new marketing vehicles such as viral marketing, MySpace, YouTube, permission marketing and so on.

Entrepreneur’s Guide To Google AdWords: How to Access 100 Million People in 10 Minutes by Perry Marshall and Bryan Todd.

The writers of this marketing book are leading experts in buying search engine traffic and Google AdWords. Their combined knowledge stipulates that 90 per cent of campaigns using Google AdWords fail because they are not adequately tested first.

When it comes to finding resources on marketing, the latest and greatest information is being collected on the internet. Talented marketing professionals are compiling their secrets and strategies and putting them in the form of eBooks, easily downloaded from the internet and sometimes even free.

There are literally millions of marketing book downloads on the internet, and often it can be difficult to sift through them all to find the good ones. Here are some tips for identifying which marketing books are going to be worthwhile downloads.

The book should solve a specific problem. Many eBook and marketing book downloads have deceptive titles, but you can analyse whether the title will have content relevant to you. Make sure it sounds professional.

Look for current books. There are many marketing books for download that are outdated. Generally speaking, the newer the book, the better chances it will have relevant content. For example, a book on Google AdWords written two years ago is less likely to have helpful information than one written in the past six to 12 months.

Ensure the marketing book is easy to follow. Using marketing books that follow a step-by-step process are much easier to read than those that involve continuous prose. Look out for titles that specify the book is a “step-by-step guide”, etc.

While its definition is constantly changing, the term ‘marketing’ traditionally refers to satisfying customer needs. For those getting started on marketing, doing research before jumping in the deep end can help develop a well-founded understanding of marketing to put you on the road to success.

Reading good books, including paid and free marketing books on the subject can help build knowledge and understanding before attempting to gain experience. Many people start their own business without any experience or knowledge of marketing whatsoever. Rather than risk sacrificing money on a venture that is destined for failure from the beginning, you can find free marketing books and then proceed wisely.

The best and most simple way to find free marketing books is to ask friends and relatives who have experience in the business and marketing sector. These people are likely to offer you support and volunteer resources to assist you on your journey. Alternatively, your local library is bound to have an extensive section of popular marketing titles that you have free access to.

If you don’t have anyone who can offer you any free marketing books or are unable to use your local library, you can always search for free marketing e-books over the internet.

Philip Kotler quite literally did write the book on marketing. In fact, he has authored over 20 books on the topic of marketing, including the world-renowned title, Marketing Management.

Philip Kotler is regarded as one of the marketing heavyweights in the world media, advertising and marketing industry, and was selected as the 4th major management guru by the Financial Times in 2001 just behind Jack Welch, Bill Gates and Peter Drucker.

Here is some of Kotler’s valuable advice, as quoted from his various works:

"The most important skill is client relationship management. Some people have a natural aptitude for gaining trust and respect from their clients. They are caring and sensitive people, good listeners and learners, and good problem solvers. The firm that hires more of these people will succeed regardless of other things."

"Consultants need to identify the specific clients they want to acquire. Many years ago I told a law firm that it needed to distinguish between 'soliciting' for business and 'positioning' itself for business. The latter is much better and consists of building a reputation for doing something so well that word of mouth acts as the soliciting force, not sales calls."
